The Royal Academy of Music, the Royal College of Music, the Royal Northern College of Music and the Royal Scottisch Academy of Musik and Drama, four of the United Kingdom’s most prestigious Conservatories endorse the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), the most important system of exams and evaulations in the world. Each year, more than 600,000 students from over 90 countries take these exams, which are available for more than 35 instruments, as well as for Orchestra and Wind Band Conducting. Her Majesty the Queen of England and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales hold the Presidency of the ABRSM, an Institution founded in 1880.Those students at our School who wish to do so may apply to take the exams which lead to the LRSM Diploma, the Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music Diploma in Music Direction, which can be taken at our School in a single day. They include the transcription of a piano score for Orchestra or Wind Band, the Analysis, Rehearsal and Conducting of several works and movements, as well as a Viva Voce exam during which the student must respond to the questions of a tribunal. The piano score to be transcribed and the works to be directed shall be chosen by the student from a proposed repertoire. The LRSM Diplomas, the Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music in Music Direction, lack official recognition in Spain, but are recognised in the United Kingdom.
